Instillation

For my installation I have decided to capture the anarchy of today's society. The abandonment of societal decency and norms has created a world full of war, fear and alright recklessness. I've decided to focus my installation into a shoebox. Within my shoe box I've plastered images of destruction and social wars to create a wallpaper of failures of human compassion. I have also included red prices of string I dyed with red acrylic paint linking to the attempts at solving the worlds issues, but evidentially it had failed. At the box there is a 'help us' at the box which represents the want to resolve issues that have been created. When the lid is put on the box lid you have to look through a hole in the box lid which forces yhe viewer to be restricted to what they see which symbolises how the media sensationalise  events in society and don't allow the viewers/public to know about all of what's going on in society. When looking back through the box the instillation is illuminated by a red light which ethasis all of the blood shed in today's society and the anger that fuels it. I have chosen to do this for my instillation to reflect on the appauling state of today's society and the current events that have happened such as; Paris , Syria and terrorism.

This is a view of my box threw the hold on the outside

Front and side views of my installation.

My installation is to show how I believe the media is presenting events in today's society and how I Believe they show the downfall and grotesque part of humanity, and how we as the population are left almost completely hopeless to solve the issues that face our world and help innocent people who are being murdrdered

As well as making my instillation very small I wanted to make it restricted to the veiwer to show how the vast majority of our population has no say in the matters of the world and how people have no power to stop it. Also the small hole focuses directly on the "help us" sign to show the extreme need to help the indangered innocent people.

The discolouration of the photos on the wallpaper of my box shows the distorted view on the events in society portrayed by the media.

Art Trip

On our journey to the art galleries we came across many abandoned place, one of which included and old rusted train track that had been put out of work and was now morbid and left on an also abandoned track that seamed to go on for a while. As well as this we also came across a graveyard which seamed to be placed on the only piece of land that had many grooves and hills, which seams rather ironic in the fact a place of death which never moves is placed on a piece of land that seams so alive and moving. Finally we came across numerous abandoned buildings in and around Birmingham, these building were rather condemned for having a very unsafe structure or simple abandoned and left behind to be consumed by overgrowth and graffiti.

Observational Drawings

Arts and words Observational drawing. For this drawing I used a typewriter for my main focus and did my main drawing in black biro ontol of old book pages for the background. This created an old and aged effect which links to my overall theme of abandoned.

The contrast of the background and black biro had an overall nice aesthetic

For my next peice I used a peice of paper with a diamonds cut out the middle to select a section of my object (shell) to focus on and draw I once again used bio for my main drawing which made my drawing bold on the background.

The background of my drawing was a collage of different rubbings on brown paper gathered from the church nearby as well as so various yellow ink markings. This peice was inspired the theme close up.

For my final piece I selected a part of a collection of rope to focus on and draw. This peice links with the theme of pattern and texture. I used biro on this peice as it alou me to experiment with different textures on the background.

For the background I used a collage of flower print wrapping paper and tracing paper. This tecnuique had a good result because it created a contrast of colours and textures.
